During the month of February and now, we traveled to some really nice restaurants in the Citrus County area.
We rode out to the Yankeetown area to Blackwater Grill. They have a theme every night. We went Wednesday date night… you order two entrées and you get an appetizer and dessert to split. The food is excellent there and the service is excellent. I had special lobster. I couldn’t eat it all. Art had mahi-mahi on spinach. KAREN had grouper o salad and Mike had special shrimp dish. https://www.blackwateryankeetownfl.com/
The February Appreciation Night last month at Black Diamond was turkey, and it was very good. Nice selection of desserts too. Lunch and breakfast are good including omelets and the trio lunch plate. I am enjoying the soups and loving clam chowder Fridays!
We returned to Crystal River Bayside Kraft Kitchen. The food and service were good. It’s a little quieter there during the week than it is on the weekends.
It is the Lenten season and Culver’s (Inverness and Lecanto) has walleye, a fresh water mild fish. It is fried, and you can order it as a sandwich or dinner. It’s a pretty good size piece of fish. You can ordert a one piece, two piece or three piece fish dinner.
We went to Saint John Paul school’s fish fry on Friday. It’s about $14 and it’s haddock, coleslaw, fries and hush puppies. It is very good…but opening night the service was a little slow, but it was the first week and I think they were overwhelmed.
For many people Los Magueyes is the place for Mexican. They have several restaurants in the area and are reasonably priced. They can handle a large table and the food is good.
Lunches continue to be good at Beverly Hills New England Cafe (tuna melt), Hernando Jimmy T’s New York Deli (Boer’s Head meats and good soup) and a lobster roll or pecan cranberry chicken salad from Cattledogs Roasters (Inverness and Hernando).
We enjoy the meats and specialty products you can purchase at The Chopping Block Meat Market in Lecanto. The tenderloin is prime as is most the beef. We like the pork chops, bacon and specialty sausages including kielbasa. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100091806191694
We saw on the Nextdoor app a roadside food pantry Queen of the Coop Farm, Hernando She has a lot of sweets including cookies, homemade jams, honey, eggs, chicken. Run as an”honor system.” You enter the shack,” pick out your purchases, and leave cash. Interesting location on north side of 486 and Citrus Hills. 442 E Benjamin St, Hernando, Open 24 hours; (352) 476-6068. (part dirt road)
