Citrus County Restaurant October 2026

The past month saw us enjoying a variety of meal options at local restaurants. 

Wallaces at the Greenhouse (Homosassa) A group of 7 of us…Roasted pork  shank, barramundi fish (four of us), salad with salmon, salad with chicken and grilled fish and chips. Gourmet restaurant!

Had a nice quiet dinner at Crystal River’s  La Casa Di Norma. I had my usual crab ravioli with shrimp. Karen  had her usual pear ravioli but with lobster sauce. Art had fresh red snapper and Mike had a special : shrimp pasta dinner.

Blackwater Grill Yankeetown  I had the one pound of shrimp lightly battered and fried * took a lot home). Several people had the grouper: some had it Mediterranean style, fried and New Orleans style . Pat had ribs, Don had the special red snapper . Joan had wedge of  salad with grilled grouper. Lloyd had shrimp etitouffe.   Enjoyed appetizers: cheese curds , dates with bacon, cheese.  Other enjoyed sides were cheese grits and Caesar salad.

Inverness Oscar Penn’s:  I had she crab soup, Caesar salad and scallop appetizer. Three people had the red fish piccata, and one the meatloaf.  They do serve a nice bread basket. Gourmet!

Sauced Hog BBQ and Bar (Hernando). Art and Mike had the pulled pork sandwich which is very good.  For the first time… my full  rack of ribs was not edible. They were not falling off the bone and were  were dry… disappointing! They serve good coleslaw and potato salad.

We had dinner at the Brooksville Bonefish Grill. Both couples had the bang bang shrimp.  What we go there for!  Art and I split the Chilean Seabass dinner also having a Caesar salad, coleslaw and the french fries . Karen had the Bonefish salad . Mike had twin lobster tails. They serve delicious food.

We haven’t been to Olive Garden in years…This week, we went there with a group.

The breadsticks were still good. The salad is good, but it was lacking tomatoes for sure and not many other ingredients just lettuce, few Italian peppers and onions. Several people had the smaller portion of lasagne. seafood pasta, eggplant parmigiana. I had the tour of Italy (brought home the chicken parm and leftover linguine Alfredo.)  Very popular restaurant with good food, reasonable priced. 

LUNCHES: 

Mariana Stinky Rose (Hernando and now also in Crystal River)  Girls went for lunch.  I had the Summer salad with fruit and it was delicious and huge!  Two had the Combo lunch which is a salad and pizza and or ziti. Joan had the Caprese salad. 

Jimmy T”s NY Deli  Hernando: chicken soup, chicken salad, Cuban, turkey club are good.  Fridays at Beverly Hills New England Cafe: clam chowder and tuna melt. 

Lecanto Firehouse Subs: Hook and Ladder,  Bacon Cheddar Ranch, Club in a sub.  We like.
