Citrus County Restaurant Update January 2024

It’s been a busy month eating dinners and lunches out. I do cook really… and I do enjoy cooking.  But I love a break from the kitchen. That’s why I enjoy good food when I go out to a restaurant.  Taverna Manos and  Dillon’s  Cinnamon Sticks are closed.

I met a Michigan girlfriend for lunch  at a place called Turner’s Kitchen in Leesburg. They have a fantastic shrimp burger, and my girlfriend liked the salmon that she ordered.

Lunches:

We also had lunches at the  Crystal River Coney Island. I like the chopped  pork sandwich and my husband likes the traditional coney.   LUNCH: Hernando Jimmy T’s NY Deli , of course one of our favorites.  Cattledogs Roasters’  cranberry pecan chicken salad, and Friday lobster rolls are our favs. I do like the Wawa  breakfasts sandwich: double bacon croissant sandwich. I even buy that so that I can have it for lunch.  Like Black Diamond Club’s Highlands lunch item: (soup and 1/2 turkey club wrap.)

Dinners:

Inverness Outback is still a good place to have dinner. Enjoyed my twin lobster tails and everybody enjoyed their steaks and salads.  We do enjoy Crystal River’s   Brothers Pizza.

Several of us went to Los Magueyes in  Beverly Hills and they were able to accommodate a very large table of diners.  If you like margueritas and Mexican, it’s a place to go around here.

viewer recommendation: LaCasita (Crystal River, Hwy 44)

We returned to Hernando’s Mariana Stinky Rose and Karen and Art enjoyed their spaghetti and meatballs. I enjoyed the clams linguine, and Mike had the chicken parmesan. Plenty of leftovers to bring home.

Lent is around the corner and that means Culver’s has Walleye.  We had it Thursday … as good as ever.   Walleye is a fresh water fish from Canadien lakes that Culvers makes available during Lent. Although last year they ran out of walleye before Lent was over, so try it early.  I will order the walleye sandwich next time; the two pieces of fish is way too much for me. (see picture) . Excellent Cole slaw-forgot to photo it.

Black Diamond Club breakfast good (but no more free muffins or fruit).  Pulled pork dinner special…sorry pic was  taken after I started eating:  corn bread, sweet potatoes, California cole slaw, pulled pork and sauce. Very good.

A group of us went to Crystal River’s Seafood Seller. It’s a great place to have seafood. Everyone liked their food, (mahi mahi, grouper, clam chowder, clams). They can accommodate a large group at the big table where you can make a reservation for it.

Crystal River’s  Vintage on Fifth.  We took our family guests to our  favorite restaurant. You can order the bread basket without the garlic and that’s what we did. The salad is very good and DONNA enjoyed her grouper. LARRY enjoyed his Pork Osso Boca, Art enjoyed his salmon and I had the salad, she crab soup and a tuna appetizer. SERVICE is wonderful: nice cozy, setting. We did return home for my homemade Key lime pie, and if you would like that recipe, I do have a winner and,  it’s very easy!

Always open to hear about your dining experiences…
