Enjoy Thanksgiving!
Time for the monthly restaurant update. We returned to several restaurants in the area and finally got to Texas Roadhouse. At the end of the blog, I attached lists of restaurants by area…(I update it in summer, some may need updating.)
Wallace’s Greenhouse . This restaurant is worth the drive to Homosassa area. It’s a smaller restaurant, but the food is always excellent, and the service always good too. Here are the entrees everybody ordered: French onion soup and grilled cheese, lobster bisque, Chilean sea bass (special fish of the night), salmon, encrusted cod, grilled fish and chips, and calypso salad with shrimp. No complaints!
Texas Roadhouse: finally got to experience what everybody has been saying is a great place to dine, and it was excellent food and service. Mike had a perfectly cooked steak. I had the fall off the bone ribs, although I think there’s a little too much sauce on them. Art had the “roadkill” which is a chopped steak, and Karen had vegetable platter. You can call ahead for seating or sign up online.
Bayside Kraft Kitchen in Crystal River did not disappoint this weekend. I had a good lobster tail dinner with homemade fries and Brussel sprouts $33. Several people had the fish of the night-swordfish and liked it. Don had the special short ribs and enjoyed them. Chef here is also the chef at Waterfront Social and Katch 22 (Katch 22 will re-open in January).
We ventured to Rocco’s Italian to try this established restaurant that is now under new ownership. We were a little disappointed: not much lobster in the lobster lasagna. You do get a lot of lobster raviolis for your money. And Karen enjoyed her veal piccata and Art enjoyed his veal marsala. They serve a nice house salad and Caesar salad, as well as bread basket. However, there are an awful lot of Italian restaurants in this area and people have their favorites places.. (Hernando: La Pergola, Stinky Rose, Crystal River:La Casa Di Norma and Homosassa: Michael Anthony’s.)
We always enjoy our carry-out meals from Michael Anthony’s, our favs include veal marsala, lasagne, and chicken parmesan. Good cannoli, too!
We love the frozen custard at Culver’s so we can get lured in there by their flavor of the day, which this week included pumpkin pecan! I do like their chicken planks too, and during the Lenten season, we love the Walleye.
We continue to have a good lunches out: Jimmy T’s, New York Deli, Cattledog Roasters, New England Café, and we also this month had the dry wings from Pine Street Pub …yummy! Panera has a delicious autumn squash soup at this time of year, and always a nice array of sandwiches and salads.
Enjoyed the flatbread chicken mozzarella special this week at Black Diamond Ranch.

The techs had take out that smelled so good she asked where it was from…Viet Deli. They immediately went there and have been hooked…a must for them when they visit. “Just discovered a Great Italian Deli on 19 N next to KFC. I tried the meatballs yesterday, and they were so delicious. I went back today and bought 24 more to add to my sauce. It is called Cappo’s Italian Deli. I highly recommend it!”
